Please Note: To apply for the position below, you must file your application with the Administrative Office of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD and also submit the required material to the Bar Association of Montgomery County, MD (if you wish to participate in the BAMC Referendum) ... if you apply for the vacancy, your name MUST appear on our ballot, but you can choose to submit the required material or abstain from seeking BAMC Endorsement.  If you abstain from seeking BAMC Endorsement, your name WILL appear on the ballot, but beside it, it will read "NOT SEEKING BAMC ENDORSEMENT."

Starting Salary Range: $127,200 Flat Rate Salary Plan

The Family Division Magistrate is an officer of the court assigned to conducting proceedings on matters within the Family Division of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, as delineated by the Annotated Code of Maryland and in accordance with the Family Differentiated Case Management (DCM) plan, procedures and policies.  Juris Doctorate and minimum of five years’ experience practicing law; member of the Maryland Bar in good standing. In addition to required experience, an additional 5 years of experience in the practice of Family Law preferred; member of the Maryland Bar for a minimum of 10 years.  The Maryland Judiciary funds and provides the benefits package for this position.  For a detailed job description, please see the Circuit Court for Montgomery County’s website:

148TH Bar Association Referendum

Notice of Vacancies for the

Due to the retirement of the Honorable Marielsa A. Bernard of July 3, 2017, and the retirement of the Honorable John W. Debelius, III on August 1, 2017, two vacancies exist on the Circuit Court for Montgomery County.  These vacancies are to be filled by appointment of Governor Hogan.

In addition to filing with the Administrative Office of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, you are asked to submit a written resume, as a pdf or an MS Word document, along with a photo (if there is not currently one on file with the Bar Association) to be emailed to, with a $100 filing fee mailed to Stephanie  L. Fink, Chair, Judicial Selections Panel Committee, Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, 27 West Jefferson St., Rockville, MD 20850.   All material must be received by 5:00p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
