New Practitioner Section

The New Practitioner Section will host this month’s meeting on Wednesday, September 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Bar Association building CLE Classroom. Following last year’s successful Section Fair, this month’s Meeting will feature representatives from multiple other BAMC Committees who will provide information about their Committees and for opportunities for increased or additional involvement in the Bar.

The New Practitioner Section will also be co-hosting an event with the Family Law Section on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Circuit Court building, Courtroom 3E. The event will be a presentation targeted towards new practitioners entitled Anatomy of a Family Law Case: Process, Planning & Resources, to be presented by Lindsay Parvis, Anne Grover, and Chris Roberts.
Keep an eye out for emails and other announcements from the New Practitioner Section. If you have questions, please contact either Josh Bienstock at josh@bienstocklegal.com / (301) 251-1600 or Josh Schmand at jcschmand@lerchearly.com / (301) 347-1273.

CHAMBER CHATS

Judge Dwyer began her impressive legal career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation before joining the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office where she served for 14 years.  In 2002, Judge Dwyer then accepted a position in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Baltimore where she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, and Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime and Gang Section at the U.S. Department of Justice. Judge Dwyer has been a Judge on the Circuit Court bench since November 17, 2016, and is currently in the Family Law rotation.
Please join us on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 at 12:30 pm for a brown-bag lunch in Conference Room 4600 (South Tower 4th Floor). This is an excellent opportunity to get to know one of the newer members of our Circuit Court bench in this informal setting, and to benefit from Judge Dwyer's particular insight in how to refine your trial advocacy skills. The Chamber Chat is open to all members of the Bar.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Callie Carnemark or ccarnemark@mmcanby.com.

MENTOR/MENTEE COMMITTEE

The mentor/mentee program is still accepting new mentor/mentees! This program is designed to aid new attorneys in developing and shaping their future careers through the support, guidance, and recommendations of a senior practitioner. If you have been practicing law for more than seven years, the Mentor/Mentee Committee is looking for your help to mentor and develop the next generation of attorneys in the Montgomery County Bar Association. If you have been practicing law for less than seven years and would like guidance from a mentor, we encourage you to apply to get a mentor. Applications to become a mentor or a mentee are available at http://www.barmont.org/?164.  They can be submitted to  Daniel Tavares.
