Mentee Application                        Mentor/Mentee Guidelines

New Practitioner Section

Along with the Montgomery County Bar Foundation, the Montgomery County Women’s Bar Association, and the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association, the New Practitioners Section co-hosted a successful fundraiser for Puerto Rican hurricane relief at Matchbox American Kitchen on Rockville Pike last month.  Ten percent of all sales were donated to the One America Appeal. Thank you to all who came and donated!

While there will be no monthly New Practitioners Section meeting in December. The New Practitioners Section is organizing its annual gift card/toy drive to benefit the Montgomery County Family Justice Center. The gift card/toy donations make a huge difference for the kids at the Family Justice Center, especially this time of year! Please make any donations by December 15th. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Keep an eye out for emails and other announcements from the New Practitioner Section.

CHAMBER CHATS

Judge Cho brings her considerable expertise to the Montgomery County Circuit Court Bench.  She began her legal career at the Law Offices of Simon Osnos in Virginia before joining the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, where she served as an Assistant State's Attorney from 1994-1996 and again from 2000-2004.  She also served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Howard County from 1996-2000.  Judge Cho joined Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker as a shareholder in 2004, and later formed her own firm, Hall & Cho in 2008.  In private practice, Judge Cho represented individuals and businesses in state and federal courts on civil and criminal litigation matters.  In August of 2012, Governor O'Malley appointed Judge Cho to the District Court of Montgomery County.  Throughout her career, Judge Cho has been an active member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and many of our specialty bars, in addition to holding numerous leadership positions.  Judge Cho has been a Judge on the Circuit Court bench since November 15, 2016, and is currently in the family law rotation.

Please join us on Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 at 12:30 pm for a brown-bag lunch in Courtroom 4I (South Tower 4th Floor). This is an excellent opportunity to get to know one of the newer members of our Circuit Court bench in this informal setting, and to benefit from Judge Hessler's particular insight in how to refine your trial advocacy skills. The Chamber Chat is open to all members of the Bar.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Callie Carnemark or ccarnemark@mmcanby.com.

MENTOR/MENTEE COMMITTEE

The mentor/mentee program is still accepting new mentor/mentees! This program is designed to aid new attorneys in developing and shaping their future careers through the support, guidance, and recommendations of a senior practitioner. If you have been practicing law for more than seven years, the Mentor/Mentee Committee is looking for your help to mentor and develop the next generation of attorneys in the Montgomery County Bar Association. If you have been practicing law for less than seven years and would like guidance from a mentor, we encourage you to apply to get a mentor. Applications to become a mentor or a mentee are available at http://www.barmont.org/?164.  They can be submitted to  Daniel Tavares.
