Mentee Application Mentor/Mentee Guidelines
New Practitioner Section
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at MANNA last month. It was a great night, and our team packed nearly 200 boxes to be distributed at local food centers.
Please join us on Wednesday, March 18 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the CLE Classroom of the Bar Association building for a CLE on the Fundamentals of Trial Advocacy presented by the Honorable Nelson W. Rupp, Jr. and Paul Stein from Stein Sperling Bennett De Jong Driscoll PC. Judge Rupp and Paul Stein serve as professors together in the Trial Practice Program at American University’s Washington College of Law. This is an opportunity to learn the essentials of trial advocacy from two knowledgeable and experienced presenters. To sign up, please contact Yesenia Mendez at
email@example.com or 301-340-2534.
Don’t miss the New Admittee Courthouse Tour & Reception, which will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2015! We invite all new admittees of the Bar to join us for a tour of the Circuit and District Courthouses, which will start at 4:00 p.m. Please meet us in the lobby of the District Court (past security), located at 191 E. Jefferson St., Rockville, MD 20850, at 4:00 p.m. The tour will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m., so please make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get through security. Immediately following the District Court tour, we will head over to the Circuit Court for a tour of that Courthouse. The Circuit Court tour will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Circuit Court, located at 50 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850. We invite all members of the Bar to join us for a reception to greet and welcome our new admittees, which will start at 5:00 p.m., on the 3rd Floor of the Circuit Court. There is no cost, and we will have free appetizers and drinks. If you would like to attend the tour, the reception, or both, please RSVP to Caitlin Grant at firstname.lastname@example.org or Kathryn Deckert at KDeckert@steinsperling.com by April 8, 2015. This is a great event, giving us the opportunity to welcome our newly-admitted fellow attorneys!
The New Practitioner section will participate in the Annual Meeting & Law Day on April 17 with a program on Solo Practice – From Start to Finish. Pilar Nicholas of Tomes, Salter, Nichols & Gomez, LLC, Brian Della Rocca of Della Rocca Law, LLC, and Christina Hughes of Kudel, McGann, Del Pino and Hughes, LLC will be presenting on navigating a solo practice from beginning to end. At this interactive panel, new lawyers will learn the do’s and don’ts of setting up and managing a solo practice. Solo practitioners can learn tips about practicing on your own, when to expand your firm, and how to wind down your practice. No matter the subject matter of the law you practice, all lawyers will benefit from a discussion of how to successfully manage a solo practice. Please bring your questions for the panel!
The March Chamber Chat will be hosted by The Honorable Anne K. Albright on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. Judge Albright has been an Associate Judge since January, 2012, and has overseen family, civil and criminal cases. Prior to joining the Circuit Court, Judge Albright gained a wealth of experience as a public defender in Montgomery County and through her own private practice.
The Chamber Chat is open to all members of the Bar, not just members of the New Practitioner Section. Judge Albright’s Chambers is located in the Circuit Court Building at 50 Maryland Avenue, North Tower, 8th Floor, Room 8110. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Elizabeth McInturff at (240) 399-7880 or email@example.com.

and a push in the right direction.

If you have not already, please consider participating in the Montgomery County Bar Association Mentor-Mentee Program. By participating in the Program, experienced attorney-mentors are paired with new-practitioner-mentees. The mentors share their experiences and wisdom with their mentees. Both mentors and mentees build relationships with each other, involve themselves in the Montgomery County Bar Association, and network with other mentors and mentees. With their involvement, each can learn from one another.
If you have practiced law for more than seven years, we encourage you to volunteer as a mentor in the Montgomery County Bar Association Mentor-Mentee Program. If you have been practicing law for less than seven years and would like guidance from a mentor, we encourage you to apply to get a mentor. Applications to be a mentor or mentee are available at http://www.barmont.org/?164, and can be submitted at any time to Rosalyn Tang firstname.lastname@example.org or Eby Kalantar email@example.com.
