Collaborative Law Section

Please, note that all of our meetings take place from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the BAMC Conference Room (upstairs), unless otherwise specified.

Our generous sponsor, Jeanne Koerber of RE/MAX Success, will provide a free lunch. It is important that we give Jeanne at least 24-hour notice of the number attending to make sure there is food for everyone. Email: or contact any of the co-chairs listed to the right with your RSVP. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own brown bag lunch, if you prefer to do so or are unable to send in your RSVP 24 hours before the meeting.

Your Committee Chairs are collaborating to deliver stimulating speakers and informational sessions for our upcoming lunch meetings.  Please join us at 12:00 noon on October 17th for a special Collaborative luncheon featuring Idith Schaham as the guest speaker on “Multidisciplinary Models of Public Collaborative Divorce Services.”  Idith co-founded a Collaborative Center in Israel which has now grown to 7 publicly-funded centers providing pro bono and low bono services to community members.  Lunch will be held in the Conference Room at 1801 Research Boulevard in Rockville (exit 6B) and parking is free.  Please RSVP to by October 13th.

For our lunch meeting on Tuesday, October 24th at 12:00 p.m., we will introduce LJ Pelham, the Interim Director of the Collaborative Project of Maryland and Past President of the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals of Maryland, to discussCPM, Collaborative Practice, Training and Mentoring Opportunities Within the Collaborative Community with our group.  LJ is an advocate for resolving family law matters outside of court, her philosophy begins with mutual respect between parties and culminates with future-oriented resolutions for families in avoiding litigation.  She has experience as a child access and visitation mediator with the Circuit Court for Montgomery County.  LJ will be speaking about modern family law and collaborative practice and opportunities for professional development within the Collaborative community.

In lieu of our monthly meeting, we invite you to attend a Collaborative Casual event at Gordon Biersch on November 13th at Happy Hour.  All BAMC sections are invited to join us for this event.

The Holiday Party this year will be held on the evening of December 7th at the home of Jane Rowny, Esq. in Bethesda, MD.  All members of the collaborative community are welcome to attend.  Information on how to RSVP for this event will be provided in next month’s article

We continue to welcome your ideas and suggestions about our meetings, CLE topics, as well as how to launch and maintain a successful Collaborative practice. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting and would like you to invite your partners, associates, mentors, mentees and fellow practitioners. Remember, Collaborative Practice is interdisciplinary involving not only lawyers, but also financial and business valuation professionals, mental health coaches, real estate agents, etc. Feel free to invite any professional who would like to contribute to the Collaborative Practice movement.

Collaborative Law Practice is interdisciplinary and incorporates not only Attorneys, but financial neutrals, business valuation and mental health professionals, real estate agents and more.  Please encourage and invite any professional to attend who would like to contribute to the Collaborative Practice movement and share their experiences with our group.  Collaboration originates from communication, facilitating the flow of self-expression and creative manifestation of tangible alternative resolutions.  To learn more, please visit:
